Tragedy in Mecca-244 Nigerians missing as Hajj death toll hits 64

As the death toll of Nigerians at  the ongoing Hajj increases,Nigeria is now the third country with the highest number of casualties which currently stands at 64.According to new reports coming from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON),10 more bodies were identified, raising the toll from 54 to 64.As the number of deaths rises, the number of injuries has also increased from 71 to 61 while the number of missing pilgrims stands at 244 according to the public Affairs Director of the commission, Uba Mana.

Mr Uba also said 12 of the 71 injured pilgrims were transported to Saudi Arabia by tour operators and 59 by state pilgrims’ welfare agencies.He said the deceased were from Adamawa,Bauchi, Borno, Ekiti, Jigawa, FCT, Cross River, Gombe, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kaduna, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Plateau, Rivers Sokoto, Yobe, Taraba, and Zamfara.
