Blade Runner in the dock: Oscar Pistorius holds his head in his hands as he is formally charged with murdering his model girlfriend
The double amputee, 26, broke down in tears (centre) as the charge was read out in Pretoria Magistrates' Court this morning.
He was comforted by his father, brother and sister as gasps were heard throughout the packed courtroom.
The hearing came as a picture emerged of the gun (left) allegedly used in the shooting of his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp (right), whose name was officially revealed for the first time today.
According to media reports in South Africa, she was shot four times through a bathroom door at the star's luxury home near Johannesburg in the early hours of Valentine's Day morning.
