FUNNY: Drama in court after a suspect asks his charges to be read in Rasta Language
There was drama in an Embu Court
yesterday after a man who was found in possession with bhang demanded that the
charges be read in a Rastafarian language since it’s the only language he
understood.
Clement Kithinji asked the court clerk to read his charges
in a language he wants or else he would not answer. The 23 year old man
appeared before Embu’s acting principal magistrate Robinson Oigara charged with
being in possession of 30g of bhang.
Kithinji was arrested by police who were on patrol while smoking
the holy herb. On accompanying him to his house, the police found more bhang
stored in a jar. The suspect admitted to the charges after they were read in
the language he was familiar with and pleaded for leniency.
Oigara however told him that the offence he had committed
was serious and fined him Sh 20,000 or six months jail term. Kithinji was
unable to raise the money and was taken to Embu GK prison to serve his
sentence.
