Boko Haram May Free 100 Chibok Girls Next Week-Uk Telegraph

No comments :
Boko Haram abandons demands for its top commanders to be released in negotiations with the Nigerian government that could see "gradual" release of schoolgirls as early as next week, sources tell Telegraph Boko Haram has dropped demands for the release of top commanders in talks with the Nigerian government and is prepared to start releasing up to half its kidnapped schoolgirls in coming days, sources close to the group have said.

The militant Islamist group, which kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls a month ago, is willing to conduct a "gradual" release of its hostages in return for the release of Boko Haram prisoners in Nigerian jails, it was claimed.
In a significant concession, the group has abandoned demands for its top commanders to be released, seemingly aware that this would be politically impossible for the Nigerian government.
The Telegraph first reported details of Boko Haram's offer of an imminent prisoner exchange last Tuesday, when sources close to to some of the militants' families said that a senior Islamic cleric from northern Nigeria would be appointed to mediate on its behalf with the government.
The cleric has since been joined by a former aide to one of the group's founders. Neither man has been named, possibly for their own safety. While the Nigerian government has insisted that it is not willing to enter prisoner swap negotiations, the source claimed that dialogue had already been going in secret for several days."Contrary to the public rejection of any swap deal by the Nigerian government, there are some on-the-ground talks taking place," the source said. "An agreement was reached about two or three days ago in principle to start releasing some prisoners."
He said that among the prisoners that the group wanted released would be wives and families of Boko Haram fighters, some of whom have been taken into custody by the Nigerian government in order to exert emotional pressure on the fighters themselves. "The group also has a list of lower-level fighters that it wants released as well, but they are not high-profile ones," the source added.
He said that in exchange, Boko Haram was willing to start a "gradual" release of around 100 of the girls – possibly beginning as early as the coming the week. "Depending on how the other side responds, the girls will be released in small groups. They will be left at a certain safe location, and the authorities will then be told as to where they can pick them up from."
Details of the offer emerged as officials investigated reports that Boko Haram was responsible for the kidnapping of up to 10 Chinese workers in neighbouring Cameroon, where the group now also has a presence.

US Marines locate abducted girls in Sambisa forest

1 comment :
Arrested boko haram header
There were indications yesterday that the 230 female students abducted by Boko Haram terrorists from the Government Girls’ Secondary School, GGSS, Chibok, Borno State, have been sited at the Sambisa Forest in Borno State, by the Special Forces of the United States Marines.
The location of the girls in the forest is contrary to widespread reports that the girls had been distributed and ferried to the Nigerian border towns in Chad, Cameroon and Niger Republic.
The girls who were abducted on April 14, were part of the 250 students boarded at the school for the West African School Certificate, WASC/ Senior Secondary School Certificate, SSSC, examinations, triggering world-wide condemnations.
The sources told Saturday Vanguard in Abuja that members of the United States Marines who are already in Maiduguri following the promise by President Barak Obama to assist Nigeria in rescuing the abducted girls, located the girls inside the forest, using some Satellite equipment which combed the forest, located an assembly of the young girls and sent the images back to the Marines on ground in Maiduguri.
Aside locating the whereabouts of the girls in the dense forest, it was also, further gathered that one of the leaders of terrorist group who participated in the abduction of the girls was arrested by a combined team of the US Marines and Nigerian forces.
Sources said that the Boko Haram leader was arrested, through an advanced interceptor equipment which was used to track the terrorist while exchanging information with his colleagues in Sambisa Forest about the movements of American and Nigerian soldiers in Maiduguri.
His phone was subsequently traced to a location in Maiduguri where he was arrested and handed over to the Nigerian military.
This was even as more US military officials arrived Nigeria yesterday to join local officials in the search for nearly 300 school girls taken captives by the Islamist extremist group, Boko Haram, the US Secretary of State John Kerry, and the defence department, Pentagon, said.
The UK team had earlier arrived in Abuja to support Nigerian government in its response to the abduction of over 200 school girls.
The arrival of the foreign troops is coming on the heels of the appeal yesterday by the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar for Nigerians to unite and fight the insurgents to achieve success.
According to Kerry, “Our inter-agency team is hitting the ground in Nigeria now and they are going to be working with President Goodluck Jonathan’s government to do everything that we possibly can to return these girls.”
The CNN also quoted the U.S. Navy Rear Admiral, John Kirby, who serves as Pentagon press secretary, as saying that the small team of seven would join advisers supporting local efforts to find the girls abducted over three weeks ago.
Kerry said the US team, working with the Nigerian government, would do everything possible to free the girls and everything possible to stop the atrocities of Boko Haram.
“We are also going to do everything possible to counter the menace of Boko Haram. The entire world should not only be condemning this outrage but should be doing everything possible to help Nigeria in the days ahead,” he added.
Besides the United States, Britain, France and China have also offered to help rescue the stolen girls.Obama said the team sent to Nigeria comprised personnel from military, law enforcement and other agencies.
France said it will station 3,000 troops in Nigeria’s neighbouring countries to help fight militants in the Sahel region.
British satellites and advanced tracking capabilities also will be used, and China has promised to provide any intelligence gathered by its satellite network.

Gov Godswill Akpabio also think the Chibok Girls Abduction Is Mysterious

No comments :
Don't know if a serving Governor should make this kind of statement at this very delicate times but he has an opinion and he has said it. During an interview with Channels TV Sunrise programme yesterday, Akwa Ibom State governor, Godswill Akpabio expressed his reservations about the kidnapped school girls. He wondered why no gun was fired during the kidnap, and why it took Boko Haram two weeks to take responsibility for the kidnapping and also why the statements made by the sect leader tallied with what local media had been reporting for weeks. He probably also has doubts, but as a governor, he was careful with his words. Some of what he said below...
"I don't have the details but there are a lot of mysteries surrounding this situation. Two hundred and thirty something girls, for you to take them out of the school, you need a lot of vehicles. I believe if they were walking, definitely it would have been possible for at least one person to have seen these girls. I think there is a regime of fear around those areas where these things are prevalent. Its almost like a conspiracy of silence where nobody is ready to talk because I can't imagine maybe 237 girls moving on a bush track or otherwise, at least one or two villagers would have seen and the stories are a bit difficult to comprehend. What were the security agents in that area doing? What was the reaction of the school principal? And how come the principal's daughters were not abducted? The female teachers were not touched? Continue...
Some of them were said to have escaped...maybe released..no gun was fired.. not a single child was fired and you know that has not been the practice in the past. And it has taken Boko Haram almost three weeks to come up to say we are the ones who did this and you know almost all the things suggested in the local media are the same things they are now saying. For instance, we have somebody, I don't know if it was Channels TV who said oh the girls have been sold for N2,000 and all of a sudden the main man came up on CNN and on Youtube and said I am going to sell your girls. So its as if we are even suggesting to them what they should do. He did not say I have sold your girls but the other person said the girls have been sold to their various husbands. So I think we must focus on rescuing those girls and drop a little bit of politics and a little bit of propaganda. Its a situation that touches all families. I have four girls in my family, four daughters so you can imagine I am not sleeping well and I don't expect any parent in Nigeria to sleep well until the girls are back" he said.

Photos of Lucky Chibok girls who escaped from Boko Haram

No comments :
You can say these are the faces of the lucky ones because they are now home with their families and loved ones but the world still do not know  what will be the fate of the remaining girls who are still in the custody of their captors. SaharaReporters has obtained photos of some of the girls who managed to escape from Boko Haram men after they were kidnapped (pictured above with their mothers/relatives) with many of them weeping as they publicly re-tell the horrors of the late night raid on April 14th.

The photos were taken in front of the Government Girls’ Secondary School, in Chibok according to SR, with the remains of the burned out building seen in the background. These images tell a dramatic story of a tiny, and isolated village, Chibok, that the world has now come to know as the site of a mass and disturbing kidnapping. See more photos  below:

No comments :
Just after the united States has offered to help Nigeria rescue the abducted Chibok girls, France has also to help provide security intelligence. This was made known by the Foreign Affairs minister of France, Laurent Fabius.

'How we jumped out of Boko Haram truck' - girls who escaped speak

No comments :
Hope this will bring hope to a lot of people that some students afterall escaped as prophesized by T.B Joshua some days back. Punch interviews two of the girls who jumped out of the truck they were being transported in by Boko Haram men after the men stormed their school and kidnapped over 250 girls. Interview below:

What is your name?
Sawok: My name is Amina Sawok.
Walse: My name is Thabita Walse.

Can you describe the attack on your school?
Sawok: We were in the hostel. One of the men dressed in military camouflage asked us where our dining hall was. From our hostels, they took us to the dining hall and from there, we were moved into the waiting vehicles and they headed towards Damboa town. The incident happened around 11pm.
Walse: It is a long story. They came to our school and deceived us into believing they were soldiers. They were dressed in military uniform and made us believe they were about rescuing us only for us to later find out that they were insurgents. When we discovered, it was already too late and there was little we could do. Continue...

At what point did you know they were not real soldiers but insurgents?
Sawok: They were shouting and rude. That was when it became clear to us that they were insurgents, then they started shooting and set our school on fire. They even shot the security men guarding the school.
How did you escape?
Sawok: I jumped out of the vehicle that looked like a truck.
Walse: Our vehicle developed a problem and they were forced to stop. I took the opportunity with some girls to run into a dark bush.

What gave you the courage to jump out of the vehicle?
Sawok: I have heard a lot about Boko Haram, the bad things they do and how they have killed many people in the state. I was afraid and I became desperate. I felt getting to their camp could be dangerous for me and it would be better if I escaped.  That gave me the courage to jump out.  I believed that I would only get injured since it was dark and they may not know how to look for me in the bush.

Did all the girls that escaped plan it?
Sawok: No, I believe the same thing was running through our minds. Immediately one of us jumped out, the rest of us just started following her.
Do you have any injury?
Sawok: No, I am very fine.

How do you feel about the others that were not able to escape?
Sawok: I would have loved all of us to escape.  I can’t celebrate my escape because some of my friends and classmates are still in the hands of the insurgents and I don’t know what they are facing. It is my prayer that they should be freed.
Walse: I have no problem, I am okay and very strong physically. The only problem I have is that some of my friends are still held hostage by terrorists.
