Everyone was shocked when Emmanuel Emenike announced his resignation from the National team on Instagram and to make matters worst, he did that without first reaching out to the head coach, Sunday Oliseh and the football federation (NFF).  Oliseh explained that he still cannot phantom what could have gone wrong that the player had to throw in the towel at the team. He said:

 “It’s a big surprise and shock to all of us to hear of his resignation. Eh, Come on! You know me better than that. There is no water to that story and it did not emanate from me. I’ve not spoken to anybody (Journalist) concerning the team. I was surprised when I read the story attributed to me.” “Immediately, I called him but he did not pick his call and the Team’s scribe Dayo Enebi Acho also called him without success. “I’m shocked and surprised. We had no issues and he had played four times since I took over the team. He’s a great player,’’ Oliseh lamented. 

 Also, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) chairman, Amaju Pinnick is totally dismayed by the news of Emenike’s resignation on Instagram.

“We(NFF) have not been contacted officially but I’m shocked because Emenike has been a major factor of success for the team. Players have the right to quit but I think that they should do it in a civil manner.” 

The NFF boss also reiterated the fact that discipline should be instilled in the team.

 “This is one of the reasons why we have to implement the code of conduct. Things should be done the right way. But, we have absolute confidence in Oliseh. He is in charge and determines players to be invited,’’

 Emenike took to his Instagram page on Monday October 19, 2015 to announce his withdrawal from the senior national team.

The news of Togolese Emmanuel Adebayor and Nigerian  Emmanuel Emenike converting to Islam went viral 2 days ago but while  Emmanuel Adebayor remains silent, Emenike has come out to debunk the rumor and insist he is still a devoted Catholic.

“The report that I am now a Muslim is absolute rubbish and false. I want the source of the news to re-address it. I have no reason to convert to Islameven though I have lots of Muslim friends. Is there any big deal observingfasting during the (Muslim) fasting period?”“I am very disappointed seeing the news going viral because it is something I told my coach in our conversation when he asked me a question and I neversaid I have become a Muslim. Fasting is not what everybody should know that you are doing and it’s very sad seeing this in the media.
