More Married Women Getting Into Drug Abuse – NDLEA Reveal
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has decried the increasing involvement of married women in drug abuse. According to Daily Trust. the Assistant Superintendent in charge of Exhibits at the Sokoto State Command, Ali Baba Mustapha, said this at the Jigawa Day celebration organised by indigenes of the state at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto yesterday.
He said women took cough syrups that contained codeine believing that it would enhance their sexual appetite. Mustapha warned that if unchecked, this trend could generate into marital crisis and even divorce. He dismissed the belief that cough syrups enhances sexual appetite.

“I am aware that a panel is working on it (the video). The panel was set up soon after the video was released few weeks ago. When our attention was drawn to it, we viewed it and we discovered that it was improper. There is no moral lesson in it and he was just advertising drug trafficking. "In the video, he exchanged a brief case supposedly containing narcotics for dollars. He was displaying affluence in the video. If it (the plot) had climaxed in an arrest and possible detention, we would have congratulated him for partnering with us. But the way he portrayed drug trafficking in the video was a means to an end, which the end is a life of affluence which we disagree with.” he said.
“We are looking at the issue holistically. We believe that there should be a body that was supposed to censor videos before they go out. Those are the things we want to investigate and verify. Was the video submitted for approval? If it was submitted, why was it approved, with such content?” he concluded

NDLEA Arrests 52 Year-old Man With Cocaine Disguised As Candy
52-year old Onyejiaju Augustine has been arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos with over 2 kilogrammes of cocaine packed as candies.The NDLEA spokesperson, Michelle Ofoyeju said that the Imo State-born man was trying to smuggle the drugs out of the country.
Augustine has for some time now been in the list of wanted smugglers and was caught trying during the screening of passengers enroute Etihad.
Michelle Ofoyeju said: “Augustine, who is a specialist in drug had earlier departed Sao Paulo, Brazil, with the illicit drug disguised as candies. He was, however, caught at the MMIA in Lagos.”NDLEA agency commander at the airport Mr. Umar Hamza confirmed the arrest and said: We made a shocking discovery of 2.605kg of cocaine carefully and neatly packed as candies. The suspect has been arrested and currently under investigation in connection with unlawful possession of cocaine.”
Augustine confessed and said: “I own a supermarket in Brazil where I had lived since 2006. I bought the cocaine and concealed it as candies. It was unfortunate that the trick was discovered.”NDLEA chairman Mr. Ahmadu Giade praised his agents hardwork and said: “This arrest is an indication that the agency is making remarkable progress in undercover operations. The suspect has been under surveillance for some years following his alleged role in illicit drug concealment for drug mules”.
