I am Being Persecuted Over 2019 Presidency-Former Gov Lamido Cries Out From Prison
While shedding tears, Lamido said he was determined to prove to Nigerians that he was innocent but was merely being witch-hunted by those who feel threatened by his rising political profile. According to the former governor, he is being persecuted by those who feel that they would not be able to actualise their presidential ambition with him around the political arena.
According to Vanguard reportage, Lamido and sons are likely to be admitted to bail tomorrow (Monday) as a vacation judge is most likely to hear their bail application on that day. It will be recalled that the trial judge, Justice Evelyn Anyadike, had earlier adjourned the case till September 28 while ordering that the suspects be remanded in Kano Prison after Lamido and his sons were slammed with a 28-count charge for laundering N1.35 billion.
Anyadike, however, ruled that the case will be handed over to a vacation judge to listen to the accused persons bail application while the judiciary goes on vacation today. Lamido’s associates are already prepared in many ways to meet whatever conditions the vacation judge might stipulate for their release from prison pending the hearing of the case in September.

You mean I am now a prisoner? Ex Governornor exclaimed in court
It seems like the Nigeria judiciary is gradually waking up to its responsibilities. Yesterday, a Federal High Court, sitting in Kano, ordered former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, and his two sons, Aminu and Mustapha, accused of fraud,to be remanded in prison custody in Kano till September 28.
According to Vanguard, Lamido who was arraigned for receiving N1.35 billion kickback from a government contractor was shocked and could not believe his ears after the judge turned down his bail application and ordered him remanded.
Immediately the court rose and the Deputy Chief Registrar of Federal High Court, Mr Solomon Akpedah ushered the former governor and his two sons into a waiting van for a journey to Kano central prison, Lamido exclaimed saying: “You mean I am now a prisoner”? The Deputy Chief Registrar, however, tried to calm him down saying “No sir, you are not a prisoner”.
