Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has disclosed today that Liverpool forward, Jordan Ibe has opted to play for England ahead of Nigeria.
Ibe is one of the few players Oliseh was hoping to draft into the Super Eagles team, but that hope may have been dashed as England coach, Roy Hodgson might invite the winger for his side's crucial qualifiers against Estonia and Lithuania next month. "Jordon Ibe's Family Informed me by a Telephone call, that He was giving priority to an England call up. We wish them well." Oliseh said on his twitter handle on Sunday.Ibe is eligible to play for Nigeria through his father, who was born in the African country, but as far as Hodgson is concerned the winger has pledged his allegiance to England. “People play for the (England) Under-21s because they want to play for England,” he said “If we do call him up it won’t be because we are worried about other nations.”
