'He didn't hurt her... it's about love and it will never end': Teacher's lawyer claims he did 'nothing wrong' except fall for schoolgirl Megan, 15
Runaway teacher Jeremy Forrest believes his romance with 15-year-old schoolgirl Megan Stammers is a 'story only about love that will never end' and insists he never hurt her, his lawyer has revealed.
French solicitor Daniel Lalanne made the claim as it emerged Forrest is desperate to be extradited back to the UK so he can be 'closer to the one he loves', after spending eight days on the run with his pupil.
He will appear in court in Bordeaux tomorrow for the start of extradition proceedings, while Megan flew home to Britain at the weekend to be reunited with her family. The married 30-year-old has told his lawyer that he is devastated that his ‘love story’ was brought to a ‘brutal end’ when he was arrested near Bordeaux on Friday. Mr Lalanne, said yesterday: ‘We have discussed how he feels about being taken back to Britain... and he doesn’t want to contest it.
'This is primarily because going home will take him back closer to the one he loves. Jeremy Forrest is in no way a pervert. This is a story only about love... It is as old as the world [and] I believe it will never end. 'In his head he has done nothing wrong except fall in love with a 15-year-old.
There has been no violence, abuse or manoeuvre of any kind.' He added: ‘Mr Forrest is very upset that his love story has been brought to such a brutal end.’ It emerged yesterday that the couple managed to evade capture after Megan travelled on what is believed to be a passport belonging to Forrest’s wife, Emily, while the teacher checked them into hotels in Bordeaux using fake names.
Forrest, who was subject to a Europe-wide arrest warrant, touted for work with a fictional CV in which he described himself as a 28-year-old rock music journalist called Jack Francis Dean. Witnesses said the pair behaved like Bonnie and Clyde as they visited expat bars and posed for pictures in the historic centre of Bordeaux which Forrest, an amateur musician, had visited in 2009 to busk.
Forrest and the schoolgirl left Britain on a cross-Channel ferry on September 20, arriving in Bordeaux by train the following day. Eric Augier, owner of the two-star Choiseul hotel in the city centre, where they stayed the first night, said Forrest asked for a room under the name of Jack Grant. He said: ‘I found a bit strange that he came alone to ask for a room and she stayed outside the entrance.’
They left in a hurry the following morning as news was breaking in Britain that they were in France. In an attempt to find work, Forrest circulated a CV under the alias Jack Francis Dean.
It made no mention of his teaching experience, stating instead that he was a journalism graduate who had worked for music magazine NME. Matt Mann, assistant manager at the Houses of Parliament pub in Bordeaux, said Forrest had visited with the schoolgirl on the eve of his arrest to hand in the CV.
He said ‘They were acting a bit odd, nervous, keeping to themselves. I thought they looked like Bonnie and Clyde.’ But another witness spotted them laughing and holding hands as Forrest used his mobile phone to take photos of Megan posing in the Place de la Victoire in the city centre on Friday.

Schoolgirl Megan 'used 37-year-old mother's passport to get into France with besotted maths teacher'

Schoolgirl Megan Stammers used her 37-year-old mother's passport to flee to France with her former maths teacher, it was claimed today.
The 15-year-old boarded a ferry from Dover to Calais last Thursday night with Jeremy Forrest, 30, and allegedly used her mother, Danielle Wilson's, identity.
Forrest, suspected of abducting Megan, was meanwhile being held in one of the toughest and most overcrowded prisons in France following his arrest in the south west city of Bordeaux.
The Port of Dover was unavailable for comment when the MailOnline contacted them.
As police investigate how and why Megan was able to leave the UK while police investigated her relationship with Forrest, the authorities will want to know how mother-of-five Mrs Wilson's passport came into her hands.
They will also want to know what a young teenager was able to cross Europe pretending to be a 37-year-old woman.
A UK Border Agency spokesman said that the travel company which the couple used to get to France were responsible for checking passport details - but it is unclear which agency the duo used.
The shocking details emerged as it was revealed the married man may have been planning to start a new life in France with schoolgirl Megan Stammers.
Hours after the pair were found ‘strolling hand in hand’ in Bordeaux, extraordinary details emerged of their eight days on the run.
French police believe they may have ‘dumped’ Forrest’s car in Paris before travelling 400 miles by train to the city in the south-west of the country.
Once there, they say married maths teacher Forrest was trying to find work as a barman before gendarmes and British police finally tracked the pair down.
They were on their way to a job interview when they were apprehended in a city centre street.

Family thrilled as Megan, 15, is found in France and married teacher is set to appear in court on Tuesday

The 15-year-old (top right) was spotted by a member of the public strolling hand in hand with her married maths teacher Jeremy Forrest through a shopping centre in Bordeaux.
French police arrested the 30-year-old (bottom left), who vanished with Megan (top right) after crossing the Channel on board a ferry from Dover eight days ago.
A car leaving a police station in Bordeaux (above middle) is believed to have been carrying Forrest to pick up belongings.
He has been split from Megan and now faces up to five years in prison if convicted of child abduction.
Police have begun the extradition process to return him to the UK and he will appear in a French court on Tuesday. Megan is in protection.
