We would NEVER go t*pl*ss like Kate!
The Duchess of Cambridge has taken legal action to prevent further pictures of her sunbathing t*pl*ss on holiday being published - but the embarrassment may never have happened if she was more like the majority of her compatriots.
Just 14 per cent of British women sunbathe without their bikini tops on, according to a new survey.
The main reason why they said they don't want to bare their br**sts is that they are not confident enough about their figures. Six out of ten women questioned said they preferred to keep their bikini top on because they don't feel they have a 'perfect' body.
A further 54 per cent of respondents said they would rather stay covered up because they didn't want strangers seeing them semi-n*ked while 32 per cent said they would not strip off if children were present.
But 61 per cent of women said they would undo their bikini if they were lying on their front to prevent tanlines.
Only 6 per cent of the women polled by dating site MissTravel.com said they would sunbathe fully topless in Britain.
But they would be bolder if they were abroad with 14 per cent saying they would bare all in countries like Spain, Italy or France because of their liberal attitudes to nudity.
However just 2 per cent would strip off fully on a n*dist beach.

French court orders magazine to hand over topless Kate snaps
A French court on Tuesday banned Closer magazine from any further publication or resale of topless pictures of Prince William’s wife Catherine.
An injunction granted by the court also ordered the magazine to hand over all files of the pictures in its possession to representatives of the royal couple within 24 hours and said it would be fined 10,000 euros ($13,000) for every day’s delay.
The ruling prevents Closer, which published the pictures on Friday, from reusing them in print or on its website, as well as from selling them to markets where they have not been published.
The pictures are already widely available on the Internet and have been printed in Ireland’s Daily Star newspaper and Italy’s Chi magazine.
The royal couple have initiated criminal proceedings over the topless pictures with the aim of securing the prosecution of Closer’s editor and the photographer or photographers who took the pictures.
A French prosecutor on Tuesday began a preliminary investigation into the criminal complaint.

Italian magazine has TWO HUNDRED pictures of topless Kate... and plans to use 50 of them in a 26-page special edition
The Italian magazine which plans to publish more topless pictures of the Duchess of Cambridge has some 200 images of the future queen sunbathing naked, it has emerged.
Chi announced it is preparing a 26-page special edition tomorrow featuring 50 intimate photographs of Kate Middleton on holiday in France.
It comes as a furious Prince William revealed he wants those responsible for taking and printing the pictures of his wife to be jailed.
But the defiant editor of Chi has Tweeted that 'not even a direct call from the Queen' would stop him from publishing the pictures.
The Chi cover, featuring three pictures of a topless princess, was unveiled Saturday in Italian newspapers and television under the headline 'Court Scandal: The Queen is Nude!'
Former Latin teacher-turned-editor Alfonso Signorini, 48, posted the message online after being posed the question by one of his followers on Twitter.
Mr Signorini said he was not afraid of any legal action in Italy because as far he was concerned the pictures were taken in a public place and there had been no invasion of privacy.
